The number on the back is read from forty metres away. These are the typefaces we cut names and numbers in, and the rules that keep them legible.

Typefaces

Six Jersey Fonts

Each one is shown in a different kit colourway so you can see how the outline and contrast do the real work. Pick one from below, or send us your club font and we will match it exactly at no extra cost.

10RODRIGUEZ

Block Bold

Heavy, upright and unmissable. Our most requested font and the safest choice for large squad numbers.

Most Popular
07KHAN

Condensed Sans

Narrow and tall. Fits long surnames across the shoulders without shrinking the letters down.

Long Names
23MARTINEZ

Sport Condensed

A modern athletic cut with tight spacing. Common on pro style match kits and large squad numbers.

Pro Style
88OKAFOR

Heavy Grotesque

Thick strokes with generous counters. Reads clean even on a busy sublimated background.

High Contrast
04SILVA

Squared Tech

Angular, squared off letterforms. Suits esports kits, cycling and modern club rebrands.

Modern
15BAKER

Varsity Slab

The collegiate look. Pairs naturally with applique and chenille lettering on varsity jackets.

Sizing

Standard Heights We Print

25 to 30 cm

Back number, adult jersey. Visible from the far touchline.

10 to 12 cm

Front or chest number, and the sleeve number where used.

5 to 7 cm

Player name above the back number, in a single line of capitals.

Getting It Right

Four Rules For Legibility

Contrast Beats Colour

Light numbers on a dark kit, dark numbers on a light kit. A tonal number looks smart in a mockup and disappears on the pitch.

Add An Outline

On a busy printed background, a single or double outline separates the number from the design and keeps it readable.

Keep Names Short

Long surnames force smaller letters. Consider a shortened name or an initial, as most professional clubs do.

Same Font, Whole Squad

Mixing fonts across a team looks unplanned. One typeface, one size, one colour on every jersey in the run.

Want Your Own Font On The Kit?

Send us your club typeface or a photo of your old kit. We will match the lettering and show it on a free mockup.
